Drafting the Document

From May 25 to September 17 in 1787, fifty-five delegates met in a Philadelphia courthouse under the utmost of secrecy in what would become known as the Constitutional Convention. Over the course of these few months, the fifty five delegates from the thirteen states would create a the Constitution of the United States.

Through hundreds of hours of debates, the drafters of the Constitution slowly worked to plan out the laws that would govern the new union. They created one of the shortest and most profound constitutional documents in all of history. However, for its time, the revolutionary ideas present in the constitution made for controversy in the union.
